As an Indirect Underwriter, You'll:
- Make Prudent Credit Decisions: Evaluate indirect auto loan applications within established authority limits.
- Review and Analyze Credit Applications: Assess risk, negotiate loan terms with dealers, and ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Build and Maintain Dealer Relationships: Promote strong partnerships through calls, follow-ups, and occasional dealer visits.
- Manage Daily Indirect Lending Operations: Ensure turn-time goals are met and funding documentation is accurate.
- Serve as Backup to Direct Lending: Support underwriting for direct branch loans and review first mortgages from third parties.
- Support Compliance & Risk Management: Follow all policies, regulations, and underwriting standards to protect members and the credit union.
- Collaborate Across Departments: Work with collateral, collections, operations, and lending leadership to keep processes running smoothly.
- Continuously Improve: Identify operational efficiencies and bring solutions forward to enhance productivity and service.
What We're Looking For:
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of consumer and real estate lending, underwriting, and risk-based pricing.
- Experience understanding subprime lending and high-yield strategies is a plus.
- Minimum three years of credit union or lending experience preferred.
- Prior supervisory experience is a bonus but not required.
- Ability to build cooperative relationships with dealers and internal teams.
- Must be registered with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) under the S.A.F.E. Act (post-employment requirement).
