Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must have demonstrated the ability to perform the primary function and responsibilities set forth in the job description and in that of the Custodian I job description.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to read and apply documents such as handbooks, Board Policies, contracts, safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to work cooperatively with all staff and community members.
- Willingness to complete additional training and learn additional job-related skills as required.
- Raise and lower the U.S. flag daily and replace the flag when showing signs of wear and tear.
- Respond to security alarm calls after normal working hours, weekends and holidays and properly secure the building afterward.
- Check and make appropriate adjustments to the Building Automated Management System(s) as necessary to maintain comfort levels within guidelines. Report needed repairs.
- Monitor the operating ranges of mechanical equipment, boilers, pumps, etc., and report any discrepancies to maintenance personnel.
- Provide for proper operation of building mechanical equipment through routine safety checks, minor adjustments/repairs, seeking service from maintenance when necessary.
- Perform monthly checks of building life safety equipment (i.e., fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, exit lighting, etc.) and maintain appropriate inspection logs as directed.
- Perform monthly roof checks to ensure gutters, drains and downspouts are free of debris.
- Perform preventive maintenance to building mechanical equipment as assigned (i.e., filters, belts, lubrication, adjustments, etc.).
- Perform minor repairs to plumbing fixtures, including unclogging sinks, toilets, drains, and lavatory seat replacement. Assist with other repairs, as necessary.
- Assist with or perform minor repairs to structural components as directed, such as, but not limited to door closers, window latches, securing broken windows, etc.
