The 2nd Shift Extrusion Operator will operate equipment that creates hoses, and is key to maintaining optimal productivity, efficiency, and quality of our products. He/She is responsible for operating plastics extrusion equipment and maintaining assigned equipment with continuous maintenance when needed. This operator must also be able to maintain safety and quality standards according to procedures (Visual Aids, Work Standards, TPMs) set in place by the Quality, EHS, and Operations departments.
Daily, onsite attendance is required at the job's location in Anderson, Indiana.
Currently, second shift hours are 3 pm to 11 pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure compliance with all safety requirements and company policies.
Duties include
- Operate extrusion, knitting and winding machine equipment.
- Supervision of the entire extrusion process.
- Take ownership over assigned area and apply Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) to all machinery. Report any failures, malfunctions or damaged machinery to Maintenance and Quality.
- Follow and maintain safety standards established by EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety Management).
- Operate Extrusion, Knitting, and Winding machinery while applying work instructions, ensuring that the process runs as stated in procedures, visual aids, and work standards.
- Follow work instructions to consume raw materials
- conservatively and efficiently.
- Fully apply control plan inspections, procedures, records, reaction plans, and escalation processes.
- Oversee inspection, separation, and control of non-conforming material.
- Set up and operate extrusion, knitting and winding machinery in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements. Ensures the following parameters are met during set up.

- After proper line set up, request that the Quality Auditor approves the beginning of production.
- The operator is responsible for a proper line set up meeting all quality and performance standards.
- After the setup is completed, he/she advises Quality Auditor for a second level quality control
- Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to adjust, position, and secure machinery. Being an Extrusion Operator adjusts and cleans machines.
- Document/Record work performed as needed based on product and quality needs in working area.
- Intervenes during the operation of the line at the request of the Shift Supervisor and other operators.
May require occasional overtime or weekend work.
May need to flex to work different shift hours.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE - REQUIRED
- Six months or more of warehouse job experience.
PREFERRED
- Some technical training and/or schooling is preferred.
- Six months or more of forklift experience.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES - REQUIRED
- Must have 5 years of intermediate to advanced computer proficiency with touch screens and computer applications to keep job pace aligned with work standards.
- Must have a high EQ, with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must display initiative and be able to apply innovative problem-solving to challenges.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Qualified applicants must be able to
- Safely lift, push, pull and move up to 55 pounds with or without assistance.
