Description
The Raw Materials Planner performs all duties related to raw materials planning and purchase order entry. Interacts with suppliers, both foreign and domestic, to maintain pricing and delivery scheduling. Works within the team to understand current inventory and customer order outlook. Analyzes and evaluates trends for better purchasing decisions to reduce the overall cost and for better purchasing decisions. Manages the performance of suppliers and drives continuous improvement of raw materials consumption.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- - Monitors and manages FIFO/ KANBAN processes for raw material supply to production.
- - Maintains inventory control of raw materials to include mid-month and month-end reporting.
- - Investigate new suppliers of current materials and obtain quotes for analysis.
- - Continuously explore new opportunities to drive cost savings through vendors.
- - Communicates internally with Sales and Planning to forecast and schedule open orders.
- - Performs analysis on utilization and waste factors of raw materials.
- - Enter Purchase Orders, then submit to vendors.
- - Enter and track product issues and follow up with supplier corrective actions.
- - Be available for on call support if needed (nights and weekends).
- - Support other resources as needed and must be comfortable with giving direction to colleagues.
- - All other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Strong ability to analyze data, recognize trends, and summarize findings into concise reports to drive stakeholder decisions
- Working knowledge of general inventory control, FIFO, and KANBAN principles.
- Excellent computer skills and familiarity with most common software packages, to include Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity of importing materials and dealing with custom clearance as well as broker’s agencies.
- Experience with continuous production operations preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is potentially exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. This position requires working in a variety of settings to include, but not limited to outdoors, office, warehouse, and manufacturing floor.

This position requires frequent lifting and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or move up to 25 pounds. The position requires frequent lifting, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under extreme temperatures. The position requires worker to ascend/descend six flights of stairs unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 year (s) of factory related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- BA or BS degree in Supply chain, Business or related field
- Leadership experience (3 years) in manufacturing environment desired.
TRAINING
- KANBAN/FIFO/Inventory Management
- Forklift certification a plus
- Attend and complete role specific training
