Fitchburg Schools Nutrition Services is hiring for an experienced and reliable 6 Hour Kitchen Worker and Fill in Cook to join our amazing team of "Lunch Ladies" and "Lunch Gentleman".
Fitchburg High School, current shift time 7:30 to 1:50
6 Hours per day, guaranteed 182 days per year. Family friendly hours, only work when school is in session.
This position also includes opportunities for additional shifts in the afternoons and/or summer, however, these additional shifts are not a requirement of the position.
This job is ideal for anyone with school aged children looking to earn additional income while their children are in school.
Wages
- Starting Wage - $21.71 to $22.21 per hour depending on experience
- Annual cost of living wage increases
- Additional annual step raises on 1 year, 2 year, 9 year, and 15 year anniversaries.
- Hours worked as fill in Cook to be paid at higher cook's rate - $23.10 to $24.21 per hour depending on experience

Duties include, but are not limited to
- Assisting with breakfast and lunch service
- Food preparation
- Food safety and sanitation in a school cafeteria environment.
- Preparing meals according to planned, standardized recipes
- Serving students and staff with a smile during breakfast and lunch periods
- Covering Cook duties when regular Cook is out - hours worked covering for the cook and hours will be paid at higher cook's rate currently between $23.10 to $24.21 per hour
- Training on Cook's duties to be provided
Qualifications
- Minimum one year experience working in a fast paced, large volume commercial kitchen setting
- Prior experience working in a fast paced School Cafeteria preferred
- Customer service experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Food preparation and cooking skills
- Ability to handle food safely and follow all food safety rules and requirements
- Must have strong customer service skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced team environment.
