Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and be proficient in various maintenance tasks. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment, contributing to the overall efficiency of our operations.
Duties
- DISMANTLES devices and equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, forklifts, hand tools and power tools.
- EXAMINES form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
- ADJUSTS functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straightedges.
- REPAIRS or REPLACES defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
- ASSISTS in the training of new mechanics.
- STARTS equipment and devices to test their performance.
- LUBRICATES and CLEANS parts.
- May SET-UP and OPERATE drill press, band saw, grinder and other metalworking tools in order to MAKE and REPAIR parts
- INITIATES Purchase Requisitions for parts and equipment.
- At the completion of each task, ENSURES that housekeeping in the area is acceptable by removing parts, tools and scrap from the area and replacing guards and housing covers on equipment.
- DEMONSTRATES the ability to complete the following basic electrical tasks.
- PERFORMS other duties as assigned by supervision.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in maintenance tasks.
- Proficient in electrical systems with relevant experience in troubleshooting electrical issues.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is highly desirable.
- Ability to read schematics and technical drawings effectively.
- Experience in welding techniques for various materials.
- Background in facilities maintenance, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and general repairs.
- Strong leadership skills with previous supervising experience preferred.
- Proficient use of tools such as an ohmmeter for electrical testing.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
