Both Second Season and Fishline Thrift support the organization in helping clients and donors, building revenue and increasing community awareness.
Position Description:
The primary responsibility of this role is to support management with the daily operations of our popular non-profit thrift store by providing a great shopping experience for our customers. The material handler will receive and process donations in a timely and friendly manner. Making sure to receive only items which our locations are able to sell. They will sort and process donations. They will also make Goodwill and dump runs as needed. The material handler's main purpose is to provide a positive donor experience and efficient product processing.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to donation guidelines
- Greet and assist customers/donors
- Receive, process donations
- Clean shelves, counters
- Have an in-dept knowledge of the store’s inventory, location, and prices
- Organize the back as well as the truck
- Demonstrate and support employees and volunteers in adhering to the organization’s policies, standards, and expectations
- Foster a positive image of Fishline and its role in the community
- Dispose of product by either taking to other thrift locations, the dump, etc.
- Transfer product from one location to the next
- Maintain store safety for staff and customers
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements/Competencies:
- Experience driving a box truck
- Reliable
- Able to work a flexible, full-time schedule that is between Mondays and Saturdays as needed by Second Season
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead staff, help customers, and work with management
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment and work well with others
- Good problem-solving skills
- Willing to work a flexible schedule of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to stand for an 8-hour shift, bend, stretch, lift 50 pounds repeatedly
- Able to drive the shop van to transport items/donations as needed
- Able to follow donation guidelines
- Time management skills
Schedule
This position is part-time, scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, depending on the needs of the organization. There may be times when needs of the department require staff to be flexible and adjust their schedule to meet the needs of the organization. Any request to adjust said schedule will be made as soon in advance as possible in order for employees to plan their schedule accordingly.
