Paralegal (Full-Time) – Topeka, KS

Pay: $45,000 – $70,000 per year (DOE)
Fisher Patterson Sayler & Smith, LLP, a mid-sized civil litigation defense law firm, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented full-time Paralegal to join our Topeka, Kansas office. Candidates with at least three years of legal experience are preferred; however, exceptional applicants will be considered.
The ideal candidate will support attorneys in all phases of litigation and work collaboratively with a team to ensure efficient case management and trial preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain case dockets and manage attorney calendars
- Coordinate day-to-day case management tasks and deadlines
- Assist attorneys with deposition preparation
- Collect, review, and summarize medical and other records
- Manage document review and production
- Prepare materials for trial in various jurisdictions
- Develop deposition summaries, client reports, exhibits, and supporting case documentation
Duties
- Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals regarding assigned cases or projects
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and interrogatories
- File pleadings and motions in accordance with court procedures
- Interview clients and witnesses; prepare detailed summaries
- Organize, maintain, and retrieve case files, including evidence, exhibits, depositions, and pleadings
- Assist with trial preparation and attend trials or hearings as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate (required)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, or a minimum of three years of law firm experience
- Familiarity with federal and state court rules and procedures
- Experience with electronic docketing and filing systems
- Familiarity with eDiscovery platforms, including CS Disco, preferred
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe, and Westlaw
