Job Summary:
The Auto Body Production Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the body shop, ensuring that repair work is completed efficiently, accurately, and to the highest quality standards. This role coordinates workflow between estimators, technicians, and parts departments, manages schedules, and ensures customer satisfaction by delivering vehicles on time and in pre-accident condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Workflow Management: Plan, schedule, and prioritize repair jobs to maximize shop productivity and meet delivery deadlines.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coach body technicians, painters, and detailers; provide guidance to improve skills and efficiency.
- Quality Control: Inspect repairs at key stages to ensure adherence to manufacturer and insurance guidelines, as well as shop standards.
- Coordination: Communicate with estimators, parts department, and front office staff to ensure smooth repair processes.
- Customer Satisfaction: Address customer concerns professionally and ensure a positive service experience.
- Inventory & Parts Management: Monitor parts orders, returns, and usage to minimize delays and waste.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce safety procedures and ensure the shop meets OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Reporting: Track production metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements.
Qualifications
- Experience: 7 years in auto body repair with at least 3 years in an autobody production role.
- Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge: Thorough understanding of collision repair processes, refinishing, frame repair, and insurance procedures.
- Tools: Proficiency with shop management software and estimating systems (CCC, Mitchell, etc.) preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or I-CAR certifications preferred.
Work Environment
- Full-time position, typically Monday–Friday.
- Work performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and chemicals.
Salary Range: Competitive, based on experience, with potential bonuses tied to productivity and quality.
