We’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented Project Designer II to support the design and delivery of dynamic housing and community development projects. In this role, you’ll collaborate with Project Managers and Architects to translate big ideas into compelling presentations, detailed construction documents, and coordinated project deliverables. From site planning and code research to renderings and construction administration, you’ll be a key player in both the creative and technical success of each project. Who We Are:
Fisher Associates, P.E., L.S., L.A., D.P.C, is a multidisciplinary design services firm headquartered in Rochester, NY, with eight locations nationwide. The firm provides civil/site engineering, transportation engineering, electrical engineering, landscape architecture, architecture, planning, environmental, surveying, GIS, construction inspection, precast engineering and construction engineering services to public and private sector clients across numerous markets. All services are delivered through the firm’s signature “Clientship” philosophy, which emphasizes not only customized, innovative quality solutions but also an exceptional client experience driven by clear communication, deep expertise, and proactive client advocacy.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in the programming, site planning, zoning research, and preliminary land use analysis to support integrated project site and building design solutions.
  • Create high-quality presentation materials, diagrams, renderings, and graphic studies for internal and client review.
  • Advance architectural design concepts through all project phases, from schematic design to construction documents.
  • Contribute to quality control efforts by reviewing drawings for accuracy, consistency, and constructability.
  • Manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently, supporting overall project schedules and team workflows.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and accessibility standards throughout the design process.
  • Assist in the construction administration phase by reviewing shop drawings and creating a master log of the project submittals, as well as answering Request for Information (RFI) and Supplemental Information (SI) and preparation of change directives.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure cohesive and coordinated development of the design.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support Housing & Community Design compliance and project success.


Salary Range:
$75,000 - $95,000 annually

Actual compensation may vary based on relevant experience, qualifications/education, and other factors. The salary range is not necessarily reflective of the actual total compensation that may be earned nor promises any specific pay for any specific employee. Salary range excludes monetary value of benefits.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field from an accredited university
  • 5 years minimum of professional architectural and project design preferred. License preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs
  • Experience with and proficiency with a variety of computer software including AutoCAD; Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowing Sketchup and Blue Beam is a plus (but not a must).

  • Excellent analytical, research and presentation skills
  • Ability to review and interpret building and zoning codes.
