What You'll Do

  • Support highway design projects involving roadway alignments, drainage systems, and geometric design using industry-standard roadway design software.
  • Develop design plans, construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Apply state and local design standards, regulations, and safety codes to support compliant, reliable roadway designs.
  • Maintain organized highway design documents, reports, and budget records.
  • Apply and support quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes to produce accurate, high-quality deliverables.
  • Assist with field inspections and roadway data collection.
  • Support project managers with schedules, project documentation, and presentations while coordinating with internal teams, clients, subconsultants, and agencies.

  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound judgment.
  • A collaborative approach to building trusting relationships through integrity, respect, and active listening.
  • An improvement-minded attitude and willingness to learn, accept feedback, and develop better solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain it.
  • Highway design engineering experience.
  • Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Familiarity with state DOT design standards, particularly NYSDOT or PennDOT.
