Fishburne Military School is seeking Varsity Head Baseball Coach for the upcoming Spring 2027 Season. For right candidate, potential opportunities might be available to combine with teaching or staff position at the school.

Job Description:

• Serve as Head Baseball Coach responsible for all aspects of Soccer Program
• Hire and manage Assistant Coach
• Monitor and manage inventory of baseball equipment and uniforms.
• Develop and implement practice plans focused on improvement and game preparation.
• Promote positive attitude and sportsmanship with players on and off the field.
• Establish in -season and out of season strength and workout plans.
• Develop strong team oriented team culture.
• Model leadership and appropriate behavior. Act as mentor to players in all aspects of school and cadet life.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree.
• Four or more years of baseball coaching experience with demonstrated results. Head Coaching experience is preferred.
• Proven leadership, motivational, and management skills.
• Positive mindset and ambition to build Program over multiple years.

Located in downtown Waynesboro, Virginia, in the bucolic Shenandoah Valley 30 minutes from Charlottesville, Fishburne Military School is a private non-profit non-sectarian boarding school for boys in grades 7 – 12. It is governed by an independent board of trustees. Fishburne is the oldest military boarding school in Virginia (1879) and the board is committed to its small scale and all male mission. When founded, FMS was modeled after nearby Virginia Military Institute and Fishburne’s iconic barracks quadrangle reflects this. As a non-sectarian school, the Army JROTC program is part of US Army Cadet Command and rated an honor unit of distinction. FMS is accredited by VAIS and a member of NAIS and TABS.

Required athletics/physical training produce not just resilient young men but several each year who go on to play collegiate sports. The majority of FMS graduates will go on to civilian higher education. A significant number each year do matriculate to one of the US Service Academies or military colleges. Some boys may elect military enlistment or technical training before pursuing college or a career. .

FMS is a small close-knit community. Most FMS administrators, faculty, and staff are dedicated educators without military experience. The personnel of the Army JROTC Department and Commandant’s Office all possess military backgrounds and direct the Corps of Cadets. Job Types: Full Time if combined with Teaching Position. Coaching only would be considered Part Time Contract Employee.
