About Fish Furniture

Fish Furniture has been a trusted name in quality home furnishings for nearly 100 years. With two large showroom locations in Northeast Ohio and a commitment to exceptional customer service, we take pride in standing behind every product we sell. We are looking for a skilled Furniture Repair & Restoration Technician to join our team — someone who takes craftsmanship seriously and understands that protecting a customer's investment is a point of pride.

Position Summary

This role is responsible for the inspection, repair, and restoration of furniture across our warehouse, showroom floors, and — on occasion — at customer locations. The ideal candidate is a skilled woodworker and finish carpenter who can diagnose and correct a wide range of issues including structural damage, surface defects, hardware replacement, and touch-up work. This person will also pitch in with general warehouse operations — moving furniture, loading trucks, and occasional deliveries — and will work closely with the Warehouse Manager and sales team to ensure that every piece leaving our facility meets the Fish Furniture standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming and outgoing furniture for damage, defects, or quality issues
  • Perform structural repairs on wood frames and case goods
  • Execute finish work including staining, touch-up painting, lacquering, and grain matching
  • Repair or replace hardware such as hinges, drawer slides, legs, and decorative elements
  • Conduct on-site service calls at customer residences when required
  • Move and reposition furniture within the warehouse as needed
  • Assist warehouse staff with loading trucks for deliveries
  • Occasionally assist with or perform furniture deliveries to customer homes
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the repair area
  • Maintain inventory of repair supplies, touch-up kits, and replacement hardware
  • Communicate clearly with warehouse staff and management on repair status and timelines

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in furniture repair, woodworking, cabinetry, or a related trade
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools; ability to work safely with finishing chemicals and adhesives
  • Strong eye for color, grain, and finish matching
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (for in-home service calls and occasional deliveries)
  • Physical ability to lift and move furniture pieces (50 lbs regularly), including loading and unloading trucks

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience
  • Full-time, stable employment with a well-established local business
  • A collaborative team environment where your craft is valued
  • Health, dental, vision (for eligible full-time employees)
  • Retirement plan (for eligible employees)
  • Paid time off and holidays (per policy)
  • Employee discount on furniture
