Duties
- Evaluate collision damage on vehicles by inspecting all affected areas, including bodywork, mechanical components, and structural elements
- Prepare detailed, accurate repair estimates using auto estimating software and manual calculations
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding repair procedures, costs, and timelines to ensure transparency and satisfaction
- Collaborate with service technicians, mechanics, and auto body specialists to coordinate repairs and parts ordering
- Upsell additional services such as oil changes, tire services, alignments, suspension repairs, or transmission work to maximize dealership revenue
- Review repair orders for accuracy and completeness before authorizing work to begin
- Maintain thorough documentation of all estimates, customer interactions, and repair progress for record-keeping and insurance purposes
Requirements
- Proven dealership experience or extensive auto service management background in collision estimating
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and repair procedures including transmissions, brakes, suspensions, shocks & struts, air brakes, alignments, tire services, diesel engine repairs, oil changes, and auto body repairs
- Familiarity with auto estimating software and service writing practices
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical details clearly and professionally
- Mechanical knowledge combined with experience in automotive repair shops or service departments
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately when necessary
- Sales aptitude with experience upselling vehicle maintenance or additional services
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; relevant certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) are a plus
