What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Officer - SBA position at Firstrust Bank?
*Hybrid Position*
Generate new Small Business Administration (SBA) loans through prospecting, outside calling, networking and referrals. Make a substantial number of outside, in-person calls on prospects and clients, will require automobile travel. By year-end, achieve 100% of established annual production objective (APO) that will be determined at or near the beginning of every year. Develop and implement marketing activities within the budgetary constraints established by supervisor.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for external self-sourcing SBA-government guaranteed loans within the Bank’s geographic territory.
- Identify and solicit new business relationships.
- Interview new and existing loan applicants to gather information relative to their business needs, abilities and earnings to determine whether loans may be an acceptable risk.
- Assemble loan packages and assist in the gathering and closing process.
- Cross-sell business products to existing customers and prospect business customers through an organized calling program.
- Generate qualified referrals to other bank departments.
- Actively participate in external community activities in order to promote Firstrust Bank and to develop a business referral network.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Regularly required to drive a motor vehicle, occasional air travel, attending meetings at various venues, including but not limited to customers’ offices and/or properties, restaurants and other meeting locations, and ascend/descend stairs and or ladders occasionally to perform inspections.
- The employee may be required to lift files/materials up to 20 pounds to take to various locations.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- 7 years of experience in screening, processing and booking SBA 504 and SBA 7A loans.
- Additional lending experience in the area of SBA related loans is desirable.
- Financial sales and lending abilities required. In-depth credit and lending knowledge, and thorough understanding of all traditional and non-traditional bank products are required.
- MS Office Suite skills required.
- Excellent written and verbal skills required.
