Job Summary:
The Assistant Branch Manager is a critical branch leader responsible for driving operational excellence, delivering exceptional member experiences, and supporting the achievement of branch growth and performance goals. This role provides direct staff supervision and serves as first‑line leadership, ensuring daily execution of service, sales, and operational standards is consistent, disciplined, and audit‑ready.
The Assistant Branch Manager is a hands‑on leader who coaches, develops, and holds frontline employees accountable for performance, behaviors, and results. This role actively reinforces a strong sales and service culture, resolves issues in real time, and ensures the branch operates with integrity, efficiency, and member focus at all times.
This position requires confident leadership presence, sound decision‑making, and the ability to lead from the front. Assistant Branch Managers are expected to demonstrate strong ownership of execution, model high standards, and contribute meaningfully to branch results while building readiness for full Branch Manager responsibility.
Major Responsibilities:
- Operational Excellence & Risk Management
- Ensure daily branch operations are executed with discipline, accuracy, and audit‑ready standards, including cash controls, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide leadership coverage for operational execution, opening/closing, overrides, and issue resolution.
- Proactively identify operational gaps and escalate risks to protect the credit union, members, and employees.
- Member Experience Leadership
- Model and drive consistent delivery of exceptional, member‑centric experiences across all interactions.
- Resolve escalated member concerns with sound judgment, professionalism, and a solutions‑focused mindset.
- Reinforce service standards and behaviors that build trust, loyalty, and long‑term member relationships.
- Growth & Sales Execution
- Actively reinforce and coach needs‑based conversations that drive relationship growth and product adoption.
- Support branch growth and service goals through daily execution, follow‑up, and accountability.
- Model strong growth and service behaviors and ensure frontline staff consistently meet expectations.
- People Leadership & Development
- Provide direct supervision and day‑to‑day leadership for frontline staff, setting clear expectations and holding employees accountable for performance and behaviors.
- Coach, develop, and strengthen employee capability through ongoing coaching, development, feedback, training support, and performance discussions.
- Identify emerging talent and support leadership readiness and succession planning.
- Performance Monitoring & Accountability
- Support tracking and analysis of branch performance metrics and ensure action is taken to close gaps.
- Reinforce execution discipline, follow‑through, and ownership of results.
- Communicate performance insights, challenges, and opportunities to Branch and Senior Branch leadership.
- Culture & Leadership Presence
- Serve as a visible leader who models professionalism, confidence, and the organization’s values.
- Reinforce a strong performance‑driven, accountable, and respectful team culture.
- Support adoption of organizational initiatives and lead change with clarity and consistency.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Management, or a related field preferred.
- Experience
- 4 years of progressive retail banking or credit union experience.
- Prior experience in a lead, supervisory, or assistant management role strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in branch‑level leadership, people development, sales leadership, and operational risk management.
- Proven ability to coach teams, drive performance, and lead through change.
