Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in accounting systems, financial software, and corporate accounting practices. Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
- Conduct detailed account analysis and data entry tasks, utilizing Excel data analysis skills for reporting and audit purposes.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliation and financial statement preparation.
- Assist with compliance requirements related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and internal audit procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, cost analysis, and financial forecasting efforts.
- Handle confidential information with integrity while maintaining meticulous records for governmental accounting standards.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting standards, and corporate accounting practices.
- Proficiency in financial software such as Workday, Paychex, ADP, Kronos, UltiPro, Ceridian, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems.
- Strong understanding of technical accounting concepts including journal entries, account reconciliation, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits.
- Experience with payroll management systems like Paychex or ADP is highly desirable.
- Excellent numeracy skills coupled with the ability to perform Excel data analysis efficiently.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks such as data entry, account analysis, and bookkeeping while maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for customer service interactions within internal teams or external auditors.
