FirstFour Group, the Gulf Coast’s premier source for specialized professional recruitment, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Network and Structured Cable Technician on behalf of our client, a locally owned and growing IT Service Provider based in greater Panama City, FL market. Only Candidates Local to Mobile, AL and Baldwin County, AL will be considered - no relocation is offered.
The Senior Network and Structured Cable Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of wired and wireless networks such as VOIP, data and wireless access points in office buildings, network closets and some construction/industrial settings.
Job Responsibilities:
- Basic hand tool knowledge
- Perform Site walks and assist in building the SOW (Statement of Work, Scope of Work)
- Install, terminate and test Cat5e, Cat6, Fiber.
- Install cable pathways such as conduit and cable raceway.
- The ability to mount network racks, cabinets, patch panels, and other equipment as needed in Network Closets.
- Demonstrate the ability to follow blueprints for cable layouts, technical manuals for network infrastructure.
- Skilled in toning and wire certification by using appropriate equipment.
- Label and document wiring for future maintenance or upgrades, service tickets.
- The ability to troubleshoot and resolve network issues as they arise.
- Adhere to bldg. codes and standards such as ANSI (American National Standards Institute), BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International)
- Must be able to work well with the team, Project managers, IT Staff and other office personnel.
- Configuration of routers, switches, IP telephony and access points.
- Updating patches and firmware for network devices.
Required Skills
- The ability to install and repair network infrastructure equipment such as (cabling, POE Switches, Routers, Access Points)
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and components
- Understanding of IP networking, LAN/WAN and voice and data
- Terminating, testing and certifying Cat 5, Cat 6
- Knowledge of PPE and OSHA requirements
- Skilled in Structured Cabling and design.
- The ability to diagnose and problem solve to minimize downtime
- Understanding of network IP addressing.
- Basic Windows system concepts and troubleshooting.
Desired Skills:
- Fiber Experience including splicing, testing and equipment (fiber optic light meter, OTDR, VFL (Visual fault locator). Familiarity with ONT’s OLT, parts and materials.
- Applicable certifications are desired
- Configuration and understanding of VLANs.
- Google Workspace and Office 365 configuration.
