Position Purpose:

Analyze, prepare, summarize, and present credit data for use by Loan Officers. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze assigned loan applications within established guidelines across entire customer base.
  • Prepare written loan memorandum documents in accordance with established policies and procedures and assist Loan Officers/Management with loan analysis.
  • Spread and analyze financial statements, develop credit information and, where applicable, review complicated credit issues for use by Loan Officers and committees in making lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans.
  • Analyze cash flows, including global cash flow, to ensure adequate cash is available to meet any and all debt requirements, as well as adequate liquidity is maintained.
  • Assist in the development of loan agreements.
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.
  • Regular interaction with Loan Officers and, as necessary, with customers.
  • Complete annual training as required.
  • Participate in bank/community activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Strong knowledge and ability to read and interpret financial statements.
  • High level of analytical ability, gained through experience, to evaluate loan risk involved with the application.
  • Responsiveness in a time-sensitive/deadline-oriented process.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles.
  • Ability to determine the need for more thorough investigation or additional information required for loan approval.
  • Working knowledge of documents and legal requirements to secure and perfect collateral instruments.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to read and understand policies and procedures.
  • Strong sense of initiative; self-motivated; work well without close supervision.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with coworkers.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail while still successfully multitasking.

 

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Finance/Accounting or equivalent; minimum of 12 hours Accounting and/or Finance is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years banking industry experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of credit responsibilities either as a Loan Officer or Credit Analyst, preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Typically requires sitting for long periods of time with frequent keyboard/mouse usage and intermittent stooping, bending and walking.
  • May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds which may include the need for independent mobility: bend, reach, or kneel.
  • Visual and auditory skills are required.
  • May be required to travel to other branch locations.
  • May be required to work some evenings and/or weekends as necessary.

 

Performance Standards:

  • Accuracy: Completeness of financial statement analysis and accuracy of credit evaluations.
  • Responsiveness: Timeliness of submissions regarding loan memorandum.
  • Relationships: Ability to work well with co-workers.
  • Guidance: Ability to build a team and provide guidance to others.
