Job Summary
The Church Nursery Caregiver is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for infants and toddlers during church services and events. This role involves caring for children, facilitating age-appropriate activities, and ensuring the well-being of each child in the nursery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for early childhood education and experience working with young children.
Duties
- Supervise and engage with infants and toddlers in a safe and loving manner.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning, development, and foundations of faith.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming nursery environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's needs and daily activities.
- Ensure the safety of all children by following health and safety protocols.
- Use provided materials to engage children in a faith-based learning environment.
- Assist with behavior management strategies to support children's emotional development.
- Provide first aid as needed and respond to emergencies in accordance with established procedures.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a positive nursery experience.
- Undergo Safe Sanctuary training and pediatric first aid training provided by the employer.
- Apply and maintain Safe Sanctuary and first aid training, and uphold a professional approach to child safety.
- Available to work Sunday mornings from 8am to 12:30pm. Available to work Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Available to work church events as they arise.
Skills
- Strong background in early childhood education such as preschool or daycare experience is preferred, but a background in childcare through nannying or babysitting is accepted.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, including infant care, toddler care, and behavior management.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special education needs is highly valued.
- Proficient in classroom management techniques that foster a positive learning environment.
- Excellent communication skills to interact positively with parents and guardians.
- Pediatric first aid certification is preferred; willingness to receive training and certification is required. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young children while supporting families within the church community.
