About FUMC ECDC
The Early Childhood Development Center opened in 1997 in response to the call of Christ to reach out in love to meet the needs of families and children. Our church set out to provide an opportunity for children to learn in a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate Christian environment. We encourage parent involvement, communicate openly and consistently about your child’s progress, and welcome you to drop in any time to share in your child’s school experiences.
Through play and age-appropriate learning activities, we partner with families to help children grow physically, emotionally, mentally, socially, and spiritually. Our curriculum includes ABC Jesus Loves Me for the younger children, Handwriting Without Tears, and Horizons for the three year old, four year old, and Pre-K classes. Handwriting Without Tears is a multisensory, hands-on approach to readiness and writing, language and literacy, and numbers and math. In addition, our highly trained and experienced teachers create engaging, age-appropriate learning opportunities for all of our children from 6 weeks through 5 years of age.
The ECDC is licensed and inspected by the Alabama Department of Human Resources. As such, we follow all DHR guidelines, standards, and teacher-to-child ratios.
