Title: Facilities Manager
Employment Status: Quarter time (10 hours/week), flexible hours, hourly
Reports to: Congregational Administrator
Description: The primary goal of the Facilities Manager position is to enact preventive building maintenance of the church campus. Preventive building maintenance is a proactive strategy for keeping buildings and assets in good working order by regularly inspecting, servicing, and repairing equipment as appropriate. It aims to prevent breakdowns, reduce operational costs, and ensure safety and comfort for occupants.
The Facilities Manager reports to and works collaboratively with the Congregational Administrator and with appropriate committees and volunteers, including but not limited to the Maintenance & Repair Committee, Grounds Committee, Green Sanctuary Team, and Tech Team.
Duties/responsibilities:
· Systems inspections: Regularly check electrical systems, HVAC equipment, plumbing, and other building systems for wear and tear or potential problems. Replace worn-out parts or make minor repairs to prevent major failures.
· Interior and exterior building inspections: Regularly inspect the roof, gutters, siding, and other exterior elements for damage or potential issues. Regularly inspect floors, ceilings, walls, windows, and other interior elements for damage or potential issues.
· Repair and maintenance of systems and buildings: Perform routine maintenance and/or repairs within the employee’s expertise and/or time allotment, which could include but is not limited to minor plumbing, painting, carpentry, and electrical.
- Identification and referral: Identify issues with equipment, systems, and buildings to determine if repairs are needed outside of the employee’s expertise and/or time allotment. Contact outside contractors to complete maintenance and/or repairs when necessary.
· Oversight: Oversee contracted work which includes (either independently or in cooperation with the Congregational Administrator) setting appointments, obtaining quotes, granting access, inspecting work done, and reviewing invoices.
· Equipment maintenance: Maintain church tools, equipment, & supplies ensuring that they are organized and in good working order. Purchase new tools and supplies as needed.
· Documentation: Follow up on any damage to facilities due to criminal acts or acts of nature. Either independently or in cooperation with the Congregational Administrator complete incident reports and file insurance and/or police reports if necessary.
· Responding to emergencies: Respond to calls regarding security alarms or other facility emergencies as needed.
Qualifications:
· Have a general knowledge in and to remain current in areas including but not limited to: Heating/Air Conditioning systems, Electrical systems, Plumbing systems, Basic Carpentry, Insurance Coverage, Fire Regulations, and any applicable City Ordinances.
· Possess a high-school education and at least 2 years of experience in general facility repairs to include, but not limited to, minor electrical, plumbing, roofing, landscaping, carpentry, etc.
· Have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of people including congregants, co-workers, and contractors.
Pay: $20.00 - $21.00 per hour
