Commercial Loan Workout Specialist

Description

The role independently manages a portfolio of problem loans and supports the development of resolution strategies that protect organizational assets while promoting appropriate borrower outcomes. This role applies working knowledge of loan workout practices, borrower financial analysis, collateral evaluation, and risk mitigation techniques to resolve moderately complex loan situations and contribute to portfolio performance.

What You'll Do

• Manages a portfolio of delinquent, troubled, or high-risk loans by evaluating borrower circumstances, identifying risks, and recommending appropriate workout strategies.
• Analyzes financial information, repayment capacity, collateral positions, and other relevant factors to support loan restructuring, recovery, or resolution efforts.
• Negotiates and coordinates loan modification, repayment, forbearance, settlement, or other workout solutions within established authority levels.
• Collaborates with lending partners, legal teams, credit professionals, collection functions, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective resolution strategies.
• Evaluates collateral, guarantees, equity positions, and other available assets to help reduce organizational exposure and improve recovery outcomes.
• Interprets and applies policies, procedures, regulatory requirements, and servicing standards when managing loan workout activities.
• Monitors loan performance, tracks workout plans, and ensures timely completion of required actions, documentation, and follow-up activities.
• Investigates moderately complex borrower situations, identifies potential obstacles, and recommends practical solutions that balance risk, member or customer needs, and business objectives.
• Supports projects, initiatives, or process improvement efforts designed to enhance workout operations, reporting accuracy, and portfolio management practices.
• Serves as a resource for less experienced team members by sharing knowledge, answering routine questions, and assisting with workflow coordination.
  
  

Essential Skills

• Required Education: Bachelors degree in field relevant to role (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
• Required Experience: 2 - 4 years of relevant experience
• Experience analyzing financial information and evaluating repayment and collateral-related risk.
• Knowledge of loan documentation, workout practices, and applicable regulations.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
• Effective negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities with limited supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interpret policies and apply them to unique business situations.
• Proficiency with loan servicing, collection, and financial systems.
  
  

Location: Hillsboro, OR | Marlborough or Chelmsford, MA (HYBRID)

Target Compensation: $61,000 - $79,500 annual bonus

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8am-5pm
