Quality Control Inspector III
Location: Jessup, MD
Experience: 4–5 years of related inspection experience
Environment: Aerospace/AS9100 manufacturing
Position Overview
This is an advanced mechanical inspection role focused on making sure components and assemblies meet blueprint, dimensional, aesthetic, and workmanship requirements.
You’ll perform hands-on inspections using CMM equipment, micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and hardness testing equipment. You’ll also review inspection results, complete documentation, identify nonconforming parts, and work with Engineering and Operations to address quality issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform dimensional, mechanical, and visual inspections of parts and assemblies
- Program, set up, and operate CMM equipment
- Interpret CMM inspection reports and measurement results
- Use advanced GD&T, including multiple datums and complex relationships
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Use micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and hardness testing equipment
- Verify parts meet customer and company specifications
- Complete inspection reports, travelers, SPC documentation, and other quality records
- Identify and document nonconforming material and generate NCRs
- Verify supplier documentation, part numbers, revisions, certifications, and other required information
- Ensure inspection equipment and tools are properly calibrated
- Work with Engineering and Operations on quality issues and corrective actions
- Work independently while meeting production timelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Required Experience & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED
- 4–5 years of related inspection experience or equivalent experience/education
- Experience working in an AS9100 environment
- Strong advanced GD&T knowledge
- Experience with CMM programming, setup, and operation
- Strong blueprint and drawing interpretation skills
- Proficiency using calipers, micrometers, and height gauges
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment:
This is a hands-on manufacturing environment, so candidates should be comfortable working around:
- Moving mechanical equipment
- Machinery and production areas
- Loud noise
- Chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles
- Hot and cold temperatures
- Vibration and other manufacturing-related hazards
- Electrical equipment
PPE may be required.
The position requires frequent standing and walking and regularly using your hands for inspection work. Candidates may occasionally need to bend, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl and may frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs.

- Must be flexible to work overtime, evenings, or weekends, sometimes with limited advance notice.
