Senior Space Systems Engineer
Northern Virginia | 100% Onsite | Up to $200,000 | Active TS/SCI Required
Our client is seeking a Senior Space Systems Engineer to support mission-critical national security programs focused on the delivery of timely and accurate Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT). This position supports highly classified Controlled Access Programs (CAPs) and Special Access Programs (SAPs) that advance space-based capabilities.
This is an opportunity for a high-level, Senior Systems Engineer with deep technical expertise in space systems, secure architectures, and systems integration to contribute across the entire system lifecycle.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Space Systems Engineer, you will provide expert engineering support throughout the design, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of complex space systems. Responsibilities include:
- Lead requirements engineering and technical solutions development
- Support systems integration across multiple space-based platforms
- Evaluate and improve system reliability, resiliency, and maintainability
- Support research and development (R&D) initiatives
- Oversee services deployment and implementation
- Participate in test and evaluation (T&E) activities
- Perform maintainability and lifecycle analyses
- Operate effectively within highly classified environments supporting national security missions
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical/scientific discipline with 18 years of relevant experience
- OR, PhD in one of the above disciplines with 10 years of relevant experience
- Active TS/SCI clearance (or currently in active adjudication for SCI access) with the ability and willingness to successfully complete a polygraph
- Experience integrating Integrated Protection Strategy (IPS) or Space Situational Awareness (SSA) applications
- Hands-on experience in at least one of the following:
Space Object Surveillance and Identification (SOSI)
Battle Management Command, Control and Communications (BMC3)
Orbital Analysis
- Experience processing and managing data across multiple classification levels
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:
- Supporting space enterprise information needs
- Space environment analysis, including space-to-ground operations and threat assessments of space assets
- Physics-based modeling, including space weather effects and threat or damage analysis of space-based objects
- Space object measurement
- National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), NRO Special Access/Activities Office (SAO), or Air Force System Program Office (AF SPO)
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, tools, and languages
Security Requirements
- Must currently possess an active TS/SCI clearance, or be in active adjudication for SCI access
- Must be willing and able to complete a polygraph
- Must be willing to sign additional Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) as required by individual programs
- Must provide proof of Organizational Conflict of Interest (OCI) status before participating in KPMO programs
