This position is part-time, around 20 hours per week. Business hours are 8:00AM - 5:30PM Monday-Friday, part-time schedule is flexible but will be a set schedule within these hours.

We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Billing Assistant to join our team to assist our full-time Medical Biller.
Job Summary: As a Medical Billing Assistant at First Steps Pediatric Therapy, you will play a vital role in our operations by ensuring accurate billing and coding for our therapy services. You will work closely with therapists, families, and insurance companies to facilitate smooth billing processes and maintain the financial health of our practice.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist with full revenue cycle billing for a busy agency with 200 patients and 15 providers.
· Run verifications of insurance benefits and communicate to families.
· Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies in a timely manner.
· Maintain compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
· Ensure insurance follow-ups are completed for primary, secondary, and tertiary claims, working to resolve issues promptly.
· Maintain accurate records of all billing transactions and communications.
· Understand insurance contracts and how they affect the reimbursement process.
· Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding billing inquiries and insurance coverage.
· Provide excellent customer service to patients and families as well as insurance companies.
· Collaborate with therapy staff to ensure all services provided are accurately documented for billing purposes.
· Attend meetings and collaborate with the office team.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred.
· 2 years of previous medical billing experience.
· Knowledge of medical coding (CPT, ICD10) and billing processes.
· Proficient in using EMR systems, Fusion Web Clinic preferred.
· Preferred experience with software including Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel), Adobe, and Monday.com.
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with HIPAA.
Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
