Position:Quality Assurance Nurse
At First Steps Nursing and Therapy we take pride in providing private duty nursing and therapy to the pediatric population of San Antonio and greater surrounding areas. We are looking for a full time Quality Assurance Nurse who is experienced with Home Health Care and the needs of our patients. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM.
Duties
- Assure compliance with company policy and all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies.
- Assist with orienting and ongoing in-service education of all nursing staff.
- Promote quality and participate in care coordination to ensure proper communication between caregivers, patients, referral sources and payers.
- Developing, initiating, implementing and evaluating client plans of care.
- Provide quality assurance of nursing documentation by reviewing clinician notes and charts.
- Knowledge of OASIS requirements and occurring updates.
- Must be willing to be on call.
- Meets mandatory continuing education requirements of the agency/licensing board.
- Maintain patient rights, dignity, & confidentiality along with the business trade practices of the agency.
- Be available at all times during operating hours for guidance and supervision of clinical staff.
- Make occasional field visits to evaluate client care and staff performance in relations to Agency policies.
- Preparing, coordinating, and submitting clinical and progress note documentation on delivered services within required time frames.
- Evaluate performance relative to job goals/requirements; coach staff and recommends in-service education programs and ensure adherence to internal policies/standards.
- Document an initial assessment of the client's needs to carry out the Plan of Care.
- Counsel staff appropriately and in a timely manner concerning areas of deficiency as well as areas of excellence and quality improvement.
Experience
- Current, unencumbered Texas license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse
- A minimum of 1 year home health nursing experience within the last 3 years preferred.
- Experienced with provider insurance, OSHA requirements for health care providers, home and community support services rules and regulations, quality improvement for health care providers.
- Good organization, communication, human relations skills and reliable transportation
- Competent in utilizing computers/electronic-equipment, and electronic charting system (Kantime).
- Must have a current driver's license reliable transportation and automobile insurance with the ability to travel as required.
- Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals including clinical, pharmacy, nurses, case managers, discharge planners, physicians, outside nursing agencies, patients, families and caregivers.
- Demonstrate a professional, organized demeanor while multi-tasking and effectively, communicating both orally and in writing.
