What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wireless Tower Technician position at First Step Internet LLC?
First Step Internet is the region’s largest and most trusted Internet Service Provider with customers across Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington, ranging from basic residential service to enterprise-grade internet and data transport services. We are looking to hire a Tower Technician who is knowledgeable and proficient in all aspects of running the tower top and bottom, with attention to all jobs being completed quickly, accurately, and efficiently. .
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Climb towers for installation, replacement, and troubleshooting of wireless equipment based on direction from Foreman and Construction Manager
· Able to run the top independently
· Read Scope of Work (SOW) documents and delivers project outcomes to scope and as directed
· Willingness to continue education through classroom training, on-the-job training, computer Based training, online training
· Uses advanced skills to perform functions associated with the installation, integration, and/or maintenance of wireless equipment
· Installs and maintains mobile test equipment
· Perform database changes, and repairs on all cell site components as well as wide area network equipment
· Demonstrates the ability to resolve difficult problems
· Works with contractors on existing cell site reports ensuring work is being done to engineering specifications
· Assists other technicians in monitoring and/or testing wireless network performance and/or resolving cell site problems
· Switch database changes, testing digital circuits and interpreting results, Dragon Microwave operations and maintenance, BOM creation according to cell site design
· Perform manual or electronic cross-connect function
· Conduct collection and presentation of field data of the wireless market as required
· Perform basic grounding system maintenance
· Provides instruction, assistance, and guidance to other technicians as required
· Perform translations and uses computer input to create, modify, and/or correct database contents i.e. cell translations, microwave system analysis, Digital Cross Connect administration/operation
· Performs BSC functions such as Lifelines, card replacements, troubleshoots and repairs equipment faults, loads software upgrades, troubleshoots and repairs MW faults from the Cell site side
· Coordinates clearing of trouble with other groups and organizations and works with other employees and/or customers in the maintenance and installation of wireless service.
· Performs Network surveillance and emergency response as necessary
· Perform required incidental and preventative maintenance on cell site, power equipment, transmission, and associated equipment, and completes necessary logs, reports, and postings
QUALIFICATIONS

· Use of PM gear, SWEEP gear, Fiber Test gear, climbing gear, capstan hoist, rigging, load ropes
· Utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
· Able to lift, carry, push, pull 75 lbs
· Work environment is outside exposed to the elements with wind noise
· Ability to work at heights of 180 ft
· Basic knowledge of pertinent FCC / FAA / EPA / OSHA regulations
· General Knowledge of the following would be a plus:

- CPE/UE/SU – customer equipment
· Uses sophisticated electronic test equipment, measuring devices, meters, and hand tools in analyzing, adjusting, installing, wiring, repairing, maintaining, and testing wireless, transmission, and associated equipment.
· Moves and/or lifts material weighing up to a maximum of 60 pounds
· Ability to drive long distances safely to complete job assignments
· Available for after-hours projects, on-call duty, and overtime.
· Must be willing to work day and or evening and possibly night hours; overtime, emergency call-outs, weekends, and holidays as required
· Proficient with Capstan Hoist and Gin Pole
· Understand and comply with DOT regulations
· Must assume 24-hour on-call duty when assigned
WORK EXPERIENCE/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
· High School Diploma or GED (Required)
· Clean Driving Record & Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from work
· Three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent
· Training in RF, Microwave
· DOT Eligible
· Climbing Certification
· Fall Protection & Rescue Training Certificate
· OSHA 10 Hour Certificate
· First Aid & CPR Certificate
· Andrews, RFS and PPC Certifications
· Sweep & PIM Certificates

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
