Position Objective: Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures for FSO Surgery Centers.
Position Requirements: High School Diploma. Must have two or more years of experience in related field of surgical scheduling in an office setting or other healthcare facility. Ability to maintain good working relationships with all co-workers, patients and general public.
Location: This position is available in Newark, DE and Dover, DE

Detailed Responsibilities:
- Respond to incoming calls, schedule, reschedule, confirm and cancel surgical procedures.
- Arranges for surgical assistants, special equipment and surgical materials.
- Coordinate physicians and physician assistants schedules with OR time and equipment availability; identify any conflicts and adjust schedule as needed.
- Functions as a liaison between surgeon, OR scheduler and patient.
- Act as primary contact for surgical patients and respond to telephone inquires.
- Prepare surgical information packets for physicians consisting of pertinent medical records required for surgery.
- Obtain x-ray films for surgeon.
- Work with other office staff to ensure that all protocols are followed for surgical scheduling, including hospital protocols, verification of benefits, eligibility verification and clinical documentation.
- Collect and distribute history and physicals and consent forms to appropriate hospitals.
- Prepare and post Master surgery schedule.
- Ability to interface with support departments and articulate issues and concerns.
- Interact with a variety of personalities and situations that require tact, judgment, poise and professionalism.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality.
Organizational responsibilities: promoting patient rights, sharing problems relating to patients or staff with immediate supervisor in a timely manner
- Physical/Mental Demands: High levels of mental concentration are required. Must handle multiple tasks simultaneously and subject to interruptions. Physical effort requires sitting for long periods of time and repetitive movements consisting of reaching with hands and arms. Manual dexterity, visual acuity, and the ability to speak and hear are required.
