A Teller is the critical link between the Bank and our customers. A successful teller recognizes the importance of providing excellent customer service through job knowledge to accurately and confidently fulfill their responsibiities. A genuine interest in serving customers is key.
QUALIFICATIONS MUST MEET MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION
* One year cash handling and direct customer service experience is preferred. Teller experience would be a plus, but not required.
* Experience with Horizon would be a plus.
* A working knowledge of debits and credits and general accounting skills is desired.
* A valid drivers license is required to work where needed.
* MUST be able to consistently work as scheduled.
* The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic evidenced by a steady work history and the motivation to grow in a banking career;
* Necessary skills include organizational, interpersonal, effective communication (written and verbally, in person and by phone) and ability to work independently according to Bank policy and procedure.
* Essential skills include an aptitude for basic math and problem solving.
* Must present oneself professionally in dress and demeanor and be friendly.
A successful Teller reads at a level sufficient to understand memos, instructions and teller-related forms; effectively communicates in person, by phone and in writing; relates tactfully, respectfully and professionally with co-workers and customers; understands and performs basic math daily; efficiently works alone or in a team environment; manages time constraints; and independently uses good judgment in following policy and procedures.
Primary Objective To assist customers with their banking needs with concern and knowledge of Bank products and services; to accurately perform teller duties according to practice and procedure in a team-oriented environment (i.e. working in harmony with all bank employees). ALL job duties require strict adherence to all applicable federal and state rule and regulations as well as Bank policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities - To work assigned hours and locations as needed (filling in during vacations and other absences), including outside of the immediate area. Duties include accepting deposits of cash, checks and loan payments; balancing daily; processing withdrawals; abiding by designated limit check cashing limit; redeeming cash items for deposit or cash; processing cash advances on credit/debit cards; possessing a general knowledge of products and services to answer customer questions; selling official checks, bank money orders and travelers checks (if offered); understanding the requirements of completing Current Transaction Reports (CTRs); promoting bank services and cross-selling through referrals; operating core system and other necessary throughout a day's work; participating in on-going training; having awareness of competitor bank services and advantages of banking with First State Bank; having awareness of and recognizing when to report suspicious transactions/activity/situations to the appropriate personnel; and participating in the general upkeep and appearance of the assigned location. Tellers are expected to understand the employee handbook and Bank security, policies and procedures.
Secondary Responsibilities Other duties or responsibilities could include combination and/or key control; opening/processing night depository and ATM; control of negotiable instruments and any other as assigned.
Expectations are to perform all job duties and other responsibilities as assigned and to follow all safety rules and regulations.
Regular attendance according to the work schedule is necessary and essential as is receiving detailed information verbally, in person and by telephone. Extensive reading and computer use is expected the majority of the time.
