The Portfolio Manager plays a critical role in managing and monitoring the bank's commercial loan portfolios. This position ensures the quality, performance, and compliance of loans while supporting Business and/or Agriculture Banking Officers. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to community banking values.
*This role can be in any of First State Bank's eight locations, hybrid, or remote in the State of Wisconsin*

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field, OR Equivalent experience
- 3 years of experience in commercial credit, lending, or portfolio management
- Strong understanding of financial statements, credit risk, and banking regulations
- Proficiency in loan software systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Portfolio Oversight:
Monitor loan performance, identify risk trends, and recommend action plans to mitigate credit risk.- Loan Servicing:
Oversee annual reviews, and borrower communication to ensure compliance and timely reporting. Monitor loan documentation and financial statement exception reports and follow-up to clear up document exceptions in a timely manner. - Risk Management:
Collaborate with credit and banking teams to maintain portfolio quality and ensure adherence to bank policies and regulatory requirements. - Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare periodic portfolio reports for senior management and regulators. Maintain accurate and complete loan files. - Customer Relationship Support:
Partner with bankers to support client relationships, including attending meetings and assisting with loan structuring. Working directly with the banker, treasury management and other team members to effectively grow fees, deposits, and portfolio revenue by presenting financial solutions to customers, at the direction of the banker. - Credit Analysis & Review:
Assist the credit department when underwriting new and renewed loans, including obtaining financial documentation and other necessary items needed. - Special Assets & Watchlist Management:
Monitor and manage criticized/classified assets, working with internal teams to develop workout strategies when necessary.
