Senior Civil Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project kickoff calls and coordinate early design planning with Project Managers and field teams
• Research existing utilities, rights-of-way, and design constraints to support permitting and constructability
• Partner with the Project Manager to define scope and design requirements
• Break down project needs, assign tasks, and manage workstreams across the design team
• Engage the Lead Engineer for specialized design elements (permitting support, ROW complexity, unique utility requirements)
• Gather and coordinate all design documentation required for permitting (PM submits permits; Design Manager supports with inputs)
• Create and manage design schedules, assigning CAD and engineering tasks to meet milestones
• Allocate resources strategically to ensure projects stay within budget
• Oversee CAD production for linear utility projects; conduct detailed QA/QC reviews
• Review, correct, and approve AutoCAD designs produced by the team
• Provide performance feedback, coaching, and development for direct reports
• Troubleshoot design challenges in collaboration with field and engineering teams

Must-Have Qualifications

• Proven experience managing CAD production for linear utility projects, such as: (Fiber, Electric, Water / Drainage, Sewer, Gas & Oil)
• Strong AutoCAD proficiency (hands-on review and correction of designs required)
• Experience managing teams and direct reports
• Strong project scheduling, communication, and time-management skills
• Demonstrated experience with cost management, including budget awareness and workforce allocation
• Ability to assess team performance and drive accountability

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• EIT or PE (not required)
• Fiber design experience
• Prior experience supporting permitting or ROW research
