What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shelver/Page position at First Regional Library?
The Shelver/Page will work under the direction of the Branch Head Librarian, or other assigned personnel, is responsible for the organization and accurate arrangement of library materials in the Library, which includes shelving, retrieving, shifting, shelf reading, weeding or discarding as directed. Will assist patrons whenever requested.
- Organization and accurate arrangement of library materials, which includes shelving, retrieving, shifting, shelf reading, weeding, or discarding materials as directed.
- Must demonstrate good customer service skills.
- Must be able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
- Requires the ability to operate the Library’s computer catalog and copier machine.
- Able to demonstrate ability to concentrate and apply knowledge of alphabet and numbers to specific filing systems.
· Experience with similar activities preferred; or a combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.
· Must have the ability to follow oral and written instructions, and perform routine, repetitive tasks accurately.
- Physically able to load, move, and unload mobile book trucks that weigh between 30 and 40 pounds.
Able to do stretching, bending, and lifting associated with shelving materials on the upper and lower parts of book ranges repetitively. Also requires full range of
