Safety Engineering Intern

First Quality Retail Services, LLC in Lewistown, PA is seeking talented, team-oriented, college students for its Internship Programs. We have one goal: providing you with real life, hands-on experience! These positions are full-time, paid positions where you will work on real projects with real results! Purpose and role of job: Provide technical skills in the operation and support of the environmental health and safety program to maintain an accident-free work environment and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities: Plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with FQ local, State and Federal OSHA rules and regulations Aspires to achieve a zero injury culture through visible support of the injury prevention and safety program Ensure required safety training is complete for all team members and training records are maintained. Participate in the new hire safety orientation process Assist organization in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe activities Conduct regular walk through safety inspections to identify hazards, document findings, recommend corrective actions and follow through to ensure corrections have been made Assist in establishing policies for preventive actions through studying incidents and potential risks in general work environments Ensure incident investigation, mitigation and reporting process is followed Build and maintain positive working relationships with all team members, vendors and customers Facilitate communication of company safety policies, procedures and standards with all visitors, including contractors and vendors Complete administrative responsibilities and documentation, including training records, accident/incident reporting, OSHA log updates, employee files and workers compensation claim filing Assist in overall workers compensation administration and coordination of the Return-to-Work program for injured team members Perform other duties as assigned Education and experience requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or demonstrated progress toward a degree) in related field of study Minimum 3.0 GPA 0-3 years of experience, including academic projects Highly motivated, strong team player, with good ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as necessary Strong problem solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills Standard knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs. Excellent verbal and written skills Authorization to work in the U.S. Work Environment: In wet, hot and cold environments inside and outside of the facility In ear, eye and foot protection areas Under pressure of deadlines and manage moderate levels of stress Physical Requirements: Lift up to 25 pounds Walk long distances Climb steps Bend, stoop, stretch Stand for long periods of time Type and read small print on screen and blueprints/schematics Ability to travel as needed to other sites via commercial airline or vehicle Disclaimer: The above information on this job description has been described to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by incumbents.
