Purpose and role of internship: Responsible for participating and leading quality related new product studies and validations. This position will offer many challenging circumstances, which require quick thinking and problem-solving methods to properly manage and support the operation. Flexibility is a requirement of this position. Must be able to work closely with all supporting departments. Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities: Assist with new product launch and quality validation activities Inspection system and quality process audit improvements with SPC software. Continuous Improvement of quality systems and inspection protocols Gauge R&R studies of new processes and testing methods Education and experience requirements: Bachelor’s degree (or demonstrated progress toward a degree) in related field of study Minimum of a 3.0 GPA Proficient use in Excel, Minitab, and other MS Office applications Strong statistics background 0-3 years of experience, including academic projects 18 years or older Work Environment: Work in a manufacturing environment with the potential for exposure to dust during certain tasks. Physical Requirements: Walk/stand 100% of time during a 8-hour shift. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling and squatting throughout shift. Occasional climbing and reaching into machines to fix jams. Occasional reaching overhead during shift. Frequent pushing and pulling with arms and legs throughout shift, including materials requiring up to 75lbs of force to maneuver. Frequent lifting or carrying of boxes weighing up to 50lbs. Constant light and firm grasping with hands throughout shift. Daily sweeping and organizing floor and work area. Occasional climbing of steps. Balance required for some tasks.
