What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Communications/Office Assistant position at First Presbyterian Church?
This is a part-time temporary position up to 16 hours/week through March 31, 2026. Depending on staffing needs, this position includes the possibility of an extension. Schedule is flexible with some in-office hours required.
Compensation will be $15-16/hour depending on experience. This position is paid on a bi-weekly basis via direct deposit and is not eligible for any benefits except worker’s compensation.
The person selected for this job will be responsible for creating, scheduling, and maintaining digital communications including the FPC website, social media accounts, and weekly e-newsletter. This person will have strong foundational experience with digital platforms and working as part of a small team.
The position is under the immediate supervision of the Church Administrator.
1. Website: content creation, updates and maintenance, possible migration to a new platform.
2. Communicate with committees and church ministries to ensure website information is up to date.
3. Social media: plan content, create and schedule posts. Work with the church administrator to determine content needs.
4. Format weekly bulletins.
5. Primary editor for weekly e-newsletter.
6. Attend bi-monthly staff meetings.
7. Set and maintain regular in-office hours and assist with answering phones, fielding questions, and being available to the congregation and community for general questions.
8. Other tasks as requested.
Qualifications:
1. Experience with organizational communication and knowledge of appropriate content.
2. Experience with web design and social media programming.
3. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
4. Ability and willingness to communicate and work effectively with church staff and volunteers.
5. Ability to pass background check and complete FPC’s child protection training.
