First Presbyterian Church Weekday School is seeking an exceptional Lead Transitional Kindergarten Teacher to join our nurturing, play-based learning community. We are looking for an educator who believes childhood should be protected, curiosity should be celebrated, and learning happens best through meaningful relationships, exploration, and hands-on experiences.
Our Transitional Kindergarten program serves children who would benefit from an additional year to grow socially, emotionally, and academically before entering kindergarten. This classroom is designed to inspire confidence, independence, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

What You'll Do
As our Lead Transitional Kindergarten Teacher, you will:
- Create a warm, welcoming classroom where children feel safe, valued, and inspired.
- Design engaging, play-based learning experiences that support kindergarten readiness while honoring each child's developmental pace.
- Foster children's social-emotional growth, self-regulation, problem-solving, and independence.
- Use observation and documentation to guide curriculum and respond to children's interests.
- Create invitations to learn through literacy, math, science, art, sensory exploration, and outdoor experiences.
- Build strong partnerships with families through open communication and collaboration.
- Maintain a beautiful, organized learning environment that reflects children's work and thinking.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support school-wide initiatives and maintain a positive team culture.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing requirements.

- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with Reggio-inspired, inquiry-based, play-based, or child-centered approaches is highly valued.
