ABOUT THE ROLE
As Property Maintenance Manager/Handyman, you will coordinate the care, upkeep, and maintenance of the buildings and grounds at First Pres San Anselmo, as a central part of the hospitality and welcome of the church.This role supports the mission of the church by ensuring our buildings and grounds are safe, well-maintained, and ready to serve both our congregation and the wider community.
Just as the church’s pastoral staff cares for the well-being of our members, the Property Maintenance Manager/Handyman leads our shared care the church campus, so that our campus will be in excellent working order and a place of welcome and hospitality for all who call the church spaces home.
As part of a collaborative team, the Property Maintenance Manager/Handyman works in close collaboration with the Finance & Resources (F&R) and Buildings & Grounds (B&G) teams and also reports to the Pastor/Head of Staff.
ABOUT THE PROPERTY AND FACILITIES
The property and facilities of the church include four buildings (with the sanctuary, fellowship hall, office, meeting/event, and classroom space), along with landscaped outdoor spaces. These spaces are used regularly for worship, programs, and community events.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Building Maintenance and Repair: Identify and address maintenance/repair needs and safety issues, performing routine maintenance and minor repairs, and coordinating contractors for larger projects; help with small construction, carpentry, and painting projects; oversight of contracted cleaning services.
2. Groundskeeping:Maintain exterior grounds in conjunction with volunteer landscape committee, including regular maintenance and general improvements, as needed
3. Security and Safety: Monitor for hazards and risks; ensure building security and compliance with safety protocols
4. Communication with staff and volunteers & maintain maintenance records
5. Event & Worship Support: Prepare spaces for worship services and calendared events; set up and take down chairs, tables, risers, and other equipment; monitor heating/AC and lighting schedules for worship and other events
POSITION DETAILS
· Hours: 12-15 hours per week, flexible schedule, depending on need, with on-call responsibilities for facility emergencies
· Supervision: This person reports to the head of a buildings committee, and to the Pastor/Head of Staff

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
· At least 5 years of experience in building maintenance and repair
· Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit
· Experience with carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, drywall and/or stucco work preferred.
· Garden maintenance and clean-up skills
· Proficient in use of tools including common power and non-power tools
· Ability to recognize and communicate maintenance needs of the church
· Self-directed, dependable and responsive.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
