Resource Center Attendant
Status: Full Time/Part Time, NonExempt

Guided by our core beliefs and a commitment to anti-racist practices, we seek to fulfill our mission by serving our community through our four areas of ministry: Community Outreach (homeless shelters, food pantry, recovery ministries, and more), Community Life (congregational ministry engagement), HGG Daycare Center, and The Chabot Theater.
Description: The Resource Center Attendant will support all daytime functions of the Resource Center and Food Pantry, including meal and mail services, case management appointments, volunteer coordination, and will be the primary help in connecting our unhoused guests with a variety of needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide outreach, engagement, and rapport building with all guests.
· Be a liaison between guests and community partners to meet guest’s immediate needs and to aid in the processes.
· Participate in team meetings, and periodic training opportunities.
· Coordinate with appropriate staff and partners to ensure resources are known in the unhoused community.
· Support the functions of the Food Pantry, including pre-packaging and distribution.
· Required to physically be present to engaged and get to know individuals or families being served.
· Able to recognize and deal compassionately with substance abuse, mental health issues, and other trauma related issues.
· Demonstrate empathy, compassion, respect, hope, encouragement, active listening skills, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
· Respond to and diffuse situations before escalating and handle disputes/altercations appropriately.
· Able to handle emergencies/crises, determine the risks of harm to self and others, and respond professionally to the situation.
· Collect data and provide confidential information for reports to all required entities regarding services provided and outcomes.
· Perform other duties as requested.

Education/Experience
- Education: High school degree (or equivalent)
- Work Experience: 2-3 years of progressively responsible work experience in a position utilizing skills relevant to this position.
Skills/Qualifications/Physical Demands
- Valid driver’s license (safe driving record required)
- Proficiency in basic computer skills to communicate effectively with staff and other agencies (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, and email)
- Personable, courteous, respectful and professional in interactions with others
- Requires the ability and willingness to work flexible hours
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
