Director of Youth and College Ministries
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to fill the role of Director of Youth and College Ministries. This person supports the spiritual formation, relational care, and programmatic leadership of youth and college students at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. This role contributes to a vibrant and growing ministry engaging over 150 students annually through weekly programming, retreats, service opportunities, and fellowship events.
Working in close partnership with the Associate Pastor of Youth, College, and Young Adult Ministries, this position helps cultivate a Christ-centered, welcoming, and engaging environment in which students are encouraged to grow in their faith, develop meaningful relationships, and participate fully in the life of the church.
Primary Responsibilities
>Collaborate with the Associate Pastor to plan, execute, and strengthen core ministry programs:
- Youth Group (Sunday evenings)
- Youth and Action Mornings (Y.A.M.)
- Prayer Pal Ministry
- Confirmation
>Assist in planning and leading retreats, service projects, social events, and seasonal gatherings, including
>Lead two annual middle school retreats and support three to four additional retreats annually
>Develop and deliver age-appropriate, biblically grounded teaching and curriculum
>Build meaningful relationships with students through consistent one-on-one engagement
>Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and Christ-centered ministry environment
>Partner with interns and administrative staff to manage youth and college communications: social media platforms, email newsletters, event promotion and storytelling
>Coordinate with the Associate Pastor on registrations, website updates, and communications strategy
>Provide leadership in the absence of the Associate Pastor
>Partner with volunteers and parents to strengthen ministry impact
>Participate regularly in the liturgical life of Sunday worship
>Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Pastor of Youth, College, and Young Adult Ministries
Qualifications
- A vibrant and growing faith in Jesus Christ
- Bachelor’s degree (Theology, Religion, Youth Ministry, or related field preferred)
- Experience in youth ministry or related work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to relate to and engage with youth, college students, and families
- Organizational and leadership skills
- Proficiency in Canva preferred
- Ability to meet the physical demands of retreats, events, and activities
