Function:
The Commercial Deposit Officer is responsible for acquiring new deposit and cash management clients, with a strong emphasis on generating new deposits. The role requires a solid understanding of commercial banking products and proven business development skills, including reviewing RFPs and executing strategies to win high-value clients, and focusing on the sale of deposit services, merchant solutions, and payroll services.
The officer will build long-term client relationships by identifying financial needs and delivering tailored solutions, with a focus on acquiring new deposit relationships, Treasury Management products, and other relevant banking services. The role also involves analyzing market trends to identify growth opportunities. The primary clientele consists of businesses within a defined geographic region.
Requirements
Duties:
- Meet assigned production goals.
- Sell the Bank’s commercial deposit products and services with a primary focus on new business/commercial relationships.
- Actively perform outside sales calls on a weekly basis to sell the Bank’s products in a professional manner.
- Call clients, prospects, and referral sources to develop new business, expand client base, and create a network of prospects and center of influences.
- Partner on sales calls with other business lines as appropriate.
- Prepare long- and short-term objectives and call strategies.
- Execute on initiates derived from the Bank’s Strategic Plan focused on inorganic or organic growth.
- Foster collaborative partnerships with line of business partners and actively hand off referrals of customers and prospects as needed.
- Comply with regulations, procedures, and internal bank policies.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements in each client interaction.
- Provide regular updates/reports to management on new client acquisitions, new revenue growth, and pipeline activity.
- Analyze market trends and identify areas of target for new client growth.
- Practice active listening when meeting with clients and ask relevant questions to ensure customer needs and preferences are being met. Especially when tailoring a proposal or product solution.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Education, Training and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required as a minimum
- College degree preferred, business administration, finance, accounting, allied major, or equivalent.
- Bank experience in a customer contact position and prior supervisory experience is desirable.
- Work experience in an unsupervised environment
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong business development and sales skills
- Self-starter with goal driven mentality
- Ability to work independently under general supervision
- Must possess a valid driver’s license. Position requires frequent driving to various branches, client meetings, etc.
- Knowledge of commercial and retail banking products and services
- Knowledge of treasury management services

Physical Demands:
- Must have the ability to read/see documents and PC screens, to communicate in person and via the telephone, and to use a PC extensively.
- The ability to speak, see, hear and write is integral to the position. Requires the use of eyes, hands, and fingers, at the same time, to operate an adding machine, calculator, and/or personal computer.
- Primarily sedentary work which involves sitting most of the time.
- Must be able to move to all areas of the branch to assist where needed as well as to travel to meet customers.
- Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds.
Environmental Conditions:
Inside: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Some outside travel required to attend meetings and visit customers.
