We’re looking for a detail-oriented Computer Operator to monitor, maintain, and optimize our critical systems. If you enjoy problem-solving and like working with technology, consider joining our IT Team!

Salary: $21.20/hour minimum. Job/salary offer would be commensurate with job level and experience.

Schedule: Monday-Friday

GENERAL PURPOSE SUMMARY
Operates and monitors the enterprise server and other central processing, performs file back-ups, and resolves system hardware malfunctions by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates, controls, and monitors the enterprise server, recognizing, interpreting, and responding to console messages from the operating system and multiple application systems.
  • Monitors and maintains a wide range of peripheral hardware such as printers, tape drives, data and image storage devices, fire detection, centralized processing servers, and capture equipment.
  • Performs file back-ups, uploads and downloads between network locations, file servers, and the enterprise server using various means of communications methods; monitors back-up tapes for quality and usability.
  • Identifies system hardware malfunctions and initiates corrective actions with vendors to maintain processing schedules, referring complex issues to lead personnel or supervisor.
  • Produces CD ROM media for clients by initiation of image extraction, writing data onto CD media, checking for quality and labeling.
  • Produces reports, statements, notices, and checks, performing quality review and distribution on all printed material.
  • Provides guidance to bank personnel, as needed, in machine operations and computer room procedures and performs general office duties including but not limited to answering phones, ordering office supplies, opening and sorting incoming mail, and maintaining files of correspondence and/or records.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum: Associate's degree in computer related field; or two years complex mainframe computer room environment experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience. Knowledge of mainframe operating environments.
Preferred: Hardware maintenance experience.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Word processing, spreadsheet, and database experience required; knowledge of mainframe operating environments required. Ability to prioritize and handle frequent deadlines and tight time constraints.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical users.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percent.

REASONING SKILLS:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally be exposed to vibrations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Regular hours may be assigned during the day, evening, or night depending on the department's needs.
