First Methodist Church is seeking a dependable, caring, and energetic individual to join our nursery team. This role is vital to our ministry, providing a safe and nurturing environment for our youngest members—infants through toddlers—so that parents can participate fully in Sunday School and worship services.
Position Overview
- Schedule: Sunday mornings, 8:45 AM – 11:45 AM.
- Compensation: $18 per hour
Primary Responsibilities
- Childcare: Provide attentive and loving care to babies and toddlers. This includes play supervision, feeding (as directed by parents), and diapering.
- Safety & Security: Maintain a clean and safe environment. Ensure that check-in and check-out procedures are strictly followed to guarantee every child’s security.
- Engagement: Facilitate age-appropriate activities, such as reading stories, playing with toys, or listening to music, to keep children engaged and happy.
- Communication: Greet parents warmly and provide brief updates on the child’s time in the nursery upon pickup.
- Classroom Management: Ensure the nursery is tidy and toys are sanitized at the conclusion of the shift.
Schedule Details
- 8:45 AM: Arrival and room preparation.
- 9:00 AM: Sunday School drop-off begins.
- 10:15 AM: Worship Service begins.
- Conclusion: Duties conclude once all children have been picked up following the dismissal of the worship service.
Additional Opportunities
This position includes childcare for select special services throughout the church calendar, particularly during the Lenten and Easter seasons. Required availability includes:
- Ash Wednesday Service
- Good Friday Service
- Other seasonal or holiday services as requested by the ministry staff.
Qualifications

- Reliable transportation and a commitment to punctuality.
- Previous experience in childcare or early childhood education is preferred.
- Ability to pass a standard background check and comply with the church’s "Safe Sanctuary" policies.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
