Position Summary
The Donor Developer plays a vital role in advancing the mission of First Light by building strong, lasting relationships with individuals, businesses, and foundations who share our vision of ending homelessness for families, women and children. This position is about telling the story of First Light, the stories that inspire and ensuring that every donor feels connected to the lives they are helping change.
Key Responsibilities
- Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing donors
- Develops and presents long-term strategies to strengthen, expand, and sustain First Light’s donor relationships
- Coordinate donor recognition efforts to ensure appreciation and ongoing support
- Fundraising & Revenue Generation
- Assist in developing and executing fundraising campaigns and events
- Meet or exceed annual fundraising targets
- Expand First Light’s donor base through outreach, networking, and community presence across individual, corporate, and foundation giving
- Communication & Outreach/Tell our Story
- Represent the organization at community events, presentations, and donor meetings
- Partner with staff to create donor-centered communications, newsletters, and reports.
- Stewardship & Accountability
- Maintain accurate donor records and track giving trends in the donor management system
- Provide timely reports and updates to leadership on fundraising progress
- Ensure all fundraising practices align with ethical standards and First Light’s values of transparency and trust
Qualifications
- Passion for the mission of First Light and a heart for serving women and children experiencing homelessness
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, marketing, or related field—or equivalent relevant experience.
- 3 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or business development with proven record of increased revenue
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to inspire donor giving
- Proven track record of building relationships and meeting fundraising goals
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Skills
- Experience in nonprofit development or philanthropy
- Grant writing and foundation relations experience
- Event planning and campaign management
- Comfort with public speaking and community engagement
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices and donor engagement strategies

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
