The First Judicial District Attorney's Office (FJDA) serves Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, and Los Alamos Counties in New Mexico by prosecuting criminal cases on behalf of the state. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Santa Fe, NM, for a Senior Trial Attorney at the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office. The Senior Trial Attorney will be responsible for managing a caseload of criminal cases, drafting motions, preparing cases for court, conducting trials, and overseeing depositions. Other duties include collaborating with law enforcement, supervising staff, and working closely with victims and witnesses to support comprehensive case preparation and prosecution efforts.
- Proficiency in Criminal Law and legal frameworks relevant to the State of New Mexico
- Experience with drafting and filing Motions within the judicial process
- Familiarity with courtroom procedures and practices, including Trials and legal arguments
- Ability to conduct Depositions and gather comprehensive case evidence
- Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
- J.D. degree and active license to practice law in the State of New Mexico
- Extensive experience in criminal litigation and trial advocacy is highly preferred
