Position Summary
The Mortgage Department Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all mortgage lending operations for First Guaranty Bank. This role drives mortgage production, ensures operational efficiency, and maintains compliance with all regulatory and bank requirements. The position plays a key role in developing business, strengthening community partnerships, and supporting the bank’s overall growth strategy. This is a leadership position with responsibility for team performance, process improvement, and the successful execution of mortgage lending initiatives across the bank’s footprint.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Drive mortgage business development across First Guaranty Bank’s market areas through strategic outreach and relationship building
- Develop targeted mortgage lending opportunities for employees of major employers within the bank’s footprint
- Build and maintain strong referral networks, including relationships with builders and realtors
- Oversee daily mortgage lending operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timely loan processing and closing
- Develop, review, and enhance policies, procedures, and operational workflows related to mortgage lending
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and implement solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness
- Manage departmental budget, including staffing levels and overall personnel expenses
- Plan, prioritize, and coordinate departmental activities, ensuring alignment with other functional areas
- Monitor pipeline performance and track progress of mortgage-related initiatives and projects
- Lead, coach, and develop team members, including hiring, performance evaluations, promotions, and compensation recommendations
- Serve as a liaison between the Mortgage Department and other departments to ensure effective communication and collaboration
- Ensure compliance with BSA/AML regulations and all other applicable bank policies and procedures
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- 5 years of mortgage lending experience
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of mortgage operations, processes, and regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated ability to develop business and build professional relationships
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies
