Part-Time Assistant Pharmacy Coordinator – Position Description
Join our collaborative team dedicated to helping patients navigate the critical medication needs of their treatment journeys. In this role, you will be a vital link between clinical care, financial services, and the patient, ensuring a smooth, timely, and supportive experience during one of the most important times of their lives.
This position will be a per diem position approximately 15-20 hours per week.
How You Will Make an Impact (Essential Functions):
You will collaborate closely with the Primary Coordinator and cross-functional teams to ensure every patient is prepared and confident about their treatment cycle medications.
- Patient Support & Navigation: Act as a primary point of contact for patients, responding to all questions and concerns regarding medication coverage, insurance eligibility, costs, and alternative options. You ensure clarity and peace of mind for patients during complex processes.
- Operational Excellence: Support the primary coordinator by evaluating clinical plans and medication requirements efficiently, ensuring timely initiation of treatment.
- Financial & Administrative Acumen: Assist with critical precertification and preauthorization needs for all treatment cycle medications. You will leverage your strong attention to detail to verify patient insurance eligibility, manage documentation, and ensure adherence to all practice billing and reimbursement policies.
- Collaboration & Communication: Build professional, supportive working relationships across financial services, patient services, clinical services, and laboratory departments. Your clear, concise communication style ensures seamless information flow.
- Confidentiality & Ethics: Maintain the highest standards of integrity, protecting patient confidentiality and data to foster trust and uphold operational excellence.
- Cost Management Support: Participate actively in guiding patients through cost benefits and alternatives, contributing to effective cost containment strategies within the practice.
What You Bring to the Team (Requirements):
Education/Experience:
- Required: A high school diploma or GED is necessary.
Associates’ degree is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 1-2 years of medical experience in patient precertification, authorization, and/or insurance is required.
- Technical Skills: High comfort level with computer programs, including standard MS Office products. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software systems and knowledge of medical software programs is required.
