Who we are looking for:
First Eagle Alternative Credit is seeking a Compliance Officer to join the Compliance Team in Chicago. The successful candidate will be responsible for the below responsibilities and have the following qualifications for this role.
What you will do:
- Work closely with other members of FEAC’s Legal & Compliance team, as well as the broader FEIM Legal & Compliance, on a variety of matters
- Assist the FEAC Compliance Team with advertising and marketing materials’ compliance reviews
- Prepare regulatory Filings (Form ADV, PF, etc.)
- Monitor compliance with Code of Ethics and other conduct related policies
- Monitor regulatory updates and improve or update the firm’s compliance program when necessary, and maintain compliance calendar
- Perform reviews of Service Providers and reviews of investment guideline reporting
- Perform AML reviews
- Assist the team in managing public/private information and manage/update restricted list and systems
- Assist in the ongoing and annual review/testing of applicable policies and procedures
- Perform general compliance and operational risk related functions in accordance with firm procedures
- Partner with FEAC’s investment, operations and finance teams to provide timely, creative, and thoughtful guidance on compliance matters for new and existing products
- Collaborate, develop, and nurture professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders/clients
- Stay abreast of Adviser’s and 40 Act regulatory matters and assist with exam preparedness efforts
- Assist on special projects and ad hoc assignments
The qualities you should have:
- Undergraduate degree; Concentration in finance or related field preferred
- 5-10 years of relevant compliance experience in the investment management industry; private funds and/or alternate credit experience preferred
- Knowledge of the Investment Company Act of 1940, the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, and FINRA regulation (including broker-dealer marketing/offering, private placement requirements)
- Experience with alternative investments and understanding of compliance restrictions with private investment vehicles, including CLOs
- Experience with registered 40 Act products
- Excellent communication skills (writing and verbal)
- Strong client service orientation
- “Can do” attitude, sense of urgency and excellent follow-up skills
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills
- Accountable, with a keen sense of professionalism and integrity
- Highly organized, efficient and able to work to tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build solid professional relationships at all levels, with both internal and external parties
- Maturity, presence, sound judgment and ability to form and express opinions effectively to cross-divisional teams, including senior management
