Assistant Director - Early Childhood Education

First Discovery Children’s Academy is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Director who is ready to take the next step in early childhood leadership.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys supporting teachers, building relationships with families, maintaining high standards, and helping keep a busy childcare center running smoothly. You’ll work closely with the Center Director while also being actively involved throughout the center and classrooms.

Our ideal candidate is someone who can lead with confidence, jump in when needed, solve problems, and help create an environment where both children and educators can thrive.

As Assistant Director, you’ll help support the daily operations of the center while serving as a trusted resource for teachers and families. Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting the Center Director with daily operations, staffing, enrollment, and administrative responsibilities
• Providing leadership, coaching, and support to teachers
• Building positive, professional relationships with children, families, and team members
• Helping ensure classrooms consistently meet licensing, health, safety, and quality standards
• Assisting with staff scheduling and classroom coverage
• Supporting family communication and addressing questions or concerns professionally
• Helping maintain accurate records, documentation, and required center paperwork
• Stepping into classrooms and providing hands-on support when needed
• Helping create a positive workplace culture built around teamwork, accountability, and growth
• Confidently overseeing center operations in the Director’s absence

• Previous management or leadership experience in a licensed early childhood program
• CDA, degree in Early Childhood Education, or other qualifying education/certification
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• A warm, professional approach when working with families and employees
• The ability to remain organized and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment
• Dependability, initiative, and strong follow-through
• A genuine passion for early childhood education and supporting educators
• Willingness to be hands-on and assist in classrooms when needed
• Ability to meet all state licensing and professional development requirements
• Current or ability to obtain CPR/First Aid, TB screening, and required state trainings
• Flexibility to work scheduled shifts within the center’s operating hours of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
