What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Teacher position at First Discoveries Academy?
Job Overview
Touch a life ... teach a child! Are you a passionate teacher who believes that school should be a place of joy and excitement? Do you want to teach and also have time with your own family? Are you excited about alternative learning and supporting families?
We are looking for an experienced early childhood teacher to join our School Family to work with children ages 3 to 10 years old, leading small groups of children through amazing learning experiences. Our children work, play and learn together, and our teachers create learning experiences that build on children's interests to create child-centered, joyful learning experiences.
Qualified applicants believe that children can learn not just from books but also from climbing trees, gardening, caring for goats and exploring the outdoors.
First Discoveries serves children ages 3-10 years old, offering both a preschool and a multi-age microschool for kindergarten through elementary. Our school is small, serving approximately 50 children.
Our children work, play and learn together in child-centered, play-based classrooms. They explore and collaborate in the outdoor classroom, enjoying a huge playground, gardens and our farmyard with gentle goats.
Our teaching team is seeking a highly motivated, creative, and dedicated educator to join our School Family for the 2025-2026 school year.
The ideal candidate has:
* An interest in and appreciation for nature, as well as a preference for teaching outdoors.
* Strong classroom management, with an emphasis on supporting children's social emotional development.
* Knowledge of child development and strategies to work with children with special needs.
* Interest in child-led, integrated learning experiences for early elementary children.
* Willing and eager to collaborate with families.
* Prefer an Associates in Early Childhood Education. Willing to consider a strong candidate with CDA and experience as a lead teacher in a play based environment.
* Bilingual candidate is a plus!
Join us in making a difference in the lives of children and families in our community!
